Cigar lounge | Monaco

Rethinking this space at the crossroads of two worlds: that of cigars and yachting. The project creates a wholly bespoke world, where every detail has been carefully considered to craft a space full of character – timeless, elegant and deeply vibrant. Conceived as a dialogue between emotion, craftsmanship and environmental responsibility, the space reveals itself as visitors explore it and experience the sensations it evokes.

Inspired by the elegance of vintage yachts and the maritime world, the colour palette echoes that of a cigar: warm, amber and deep shades evoking tobacco leaves and weathered wood, balanced by lighter tones reminiscent of light and the sea.

All the joinery was designed and crafted entirely to measure around this antique piece of furniture, which houses the lockers for the Yacht Club’s premium members. A piece steeped in history that it was essential to preserve and showcase. Crafted from a combination of cedar, walnut and solid timber, this architectural composition combines aesthetics with functionality. Cedar was specifically chosen for its natural moisture-regulating properties, which help to preserve the cigars better.

In this quest for uniqueness and craftsmanship, the joinery has been adorned with handmade rope and glazed doors incorporating fabric made from paper.

Designed as a sensory experience, the space reveals a subtle interplay between materials: the warmth of wood, the suppleness of leather, the tension of the ropes, the delicacy of paper – and it is the artisan’s craftsmanship that brings it to life.

These fully motorised, bespoke, hand-made Roman blinds transport us to the world of vintage sailing ships. Crafted from two different weaves of abaca, they delicately filter the light.

In collaboration with @adpceramique and our joiners, several pieces designed by the studio redefine the space and contribute to the venue’s identity, notably this series of side tables that play on the shapes and colours of the glazes.

The alcove, lined with Dedar wallpaper, gently envelops the centrepiece of this space: a sculpture made from recycled leather scraps, designed in collaboration with @horstudio, winners of the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for ‘Intelligence de la Main’. Its shape is inspired by the movement of the sea. The piece, entirely handcrafted and mounted by hand, allows the light to reveal the full beauty of this craftsmanship.

This sculpture is accompanied by bespoke joinery made from walnut and woven papyrus, which is composed of 100% of seaweed. Amber-coloured glass, natural paper cord and stoneware can also be found in the surrounding rooms.
